Get Involved with Special Education at La Ballona!

The Equal Access Committee at La Ballona is active and made up of parents of children with IEPs, 504s and parents who wish to advocate and learn more about our community.

Equal Access committee will be meeting at the following dates/times throughout the school year:

Regular meetings: second Wednesdays 12-1pm over zoom
Coffee meetups: last Fridays 9-10am in person

In 2021-22 La Ballona added a Sensory Room to the school.  We are proud of this room to meet the ongoing sensory needs of La Ballona students.

Disability Awareness Month October 2021.

We brought in the Special Olympics Organization for a school wide assembly.  We also orchestrated classroom activities with sign language, brail, and storytelling using books that highlight learning and physical differences.  We decorated the display cases around the campus with educational materials of famous people in history who have a disability and highlighted their ongoing achievements.
