Dear families,

Thank you so much for the wonderful "Teacher Appreciation" week last week.  All of the thoughtful cards, gifts, and treats really touched my heart and made me feel very appreciated.  Thank you.  Happy belated Mother's Day to all of you moms. I hope you children were extra cute and helpful this past weekend.

We met and passed our goal of raising $100 for the people of Nepal.  Thank you so much for helping to teach your children about helping other's in need.  They were so proud to add something to the cup. The student council did an excellent job choosing who to help and support.  We have families from Nepal who have personal connections here at La Ballona. 

The weeks are ticking down closer to summer vacation.  We are now working on writing Non-Fiction, reading for understanding, and adding and subtracting double-digit numbers.  In science we are learning about solids, liquids, and gases.  Character traits and understanding the difference between needs and wants are our focus in social studies.  Remember to help your child turn in homework every Monday and their library book every Thursday.  Some students are loosing important points because they are turning things in late. 

Please help remind your children to continue to do their best.  As we get closer to summer we usually see more behavior problems.  It is important that we stay focused and continue to learn.
